The overall color is a dark brown color with hints of grey, v, and even blue swirled out of the luxurious grain. Genuine black walnut is very rare these days — what you think of as walnut is likely a stained variety of oak. True black walnut is a very complicated, very beautiful hardwood. We use white oak for our quarter-sawn cuts, as it has additional contrast and ‘ray flake’ in the wood which comes out beautifully when cut at an angle. | Mixed Wood Hardwood Sample Mixed hardwood is a combination of wood species that create a natural contrast in the finished piece of furniture. The woods used are typically cherry/walnut, cherry/maple, or maple/walnut. The wood finish must be the same for all of the wood (we can’t stain part of a tabletop with medium finish, and the other part with mahogany finish). The finish used on a mixed hardwood dresser is typically clear varnish or clear oil & wax. When ordering a mixed wood dresser, we will go over the details with you over the phone — discussing every section of the piece, top to bottom. This ensures that we get all of the details right on your new mixed wood dresser. Mixed Hardwood Sample
